Have you recently been diagnosed with asthma, COPD, or chronic cough or have already been living with it for some time?
Are you thinking about making changes to tobacco/vaping/cannabis use and just don’t know where to start?
The Calgary COPD and Asthma Program is an Alberta Health Services program. We are a team of certified respiratory educators and respirologists. We strive to be a leading centre in Canada working with patients and other health care professionals in treating asthma, COPD, tobacco reduction, and chronic cough.
Our Certified Respiratory Educators provide education for patients with asthma, COPD, chronic cough, and smokers at risk.
Referral Sources: The Calgary COPD & Asthma Program no longer does spirometry testing. We are still accepting referrals to provide respiratory education for patients who have asthma, COPD, or require smoking cessation information. These appointments will be conducted virtually or by phone. Please continue to fax us a referral along with a copy of the most current pulmonary function test, if available. Thank you for your continued support.

How we began…
The Calgary COPD & Asthma Program (CCAP) was an initiative which began in 1991, led by Drs. Robert Cowie, Gordon Ford and Stephen Field. This dedicated team helped build CCAP into a nationally recognized, multi-site, multi-disciplinary program.
Today our team is led by Dr. Brandie Walker, with over 10 Certified Respiratory Educators, administrative staff and over 25 program aligned Respirologists.
The Calgary COPD & Asthma Program provides personalized education for adults who have asthma, COPD or would like help to reduce or quit tobacco/vaping or cannabis use. Your appointment is a one to one session with a Certified Respiratory Educator. You can refer yourself, or have your family physician/health care professional send us a referral along with a breathing test (Pulmonary Function Test) if available.
